This is was a complete setup, i knew exactly what i wanted how i was going to light it what he was going to wear and the pose he was going to do. This made this shot a very quick shoot which was about a 5 minute shoot. The only problem is that it was raining while we were shooting.
I wanted to portray the training side of rollerblading, every rollerblader has a p rail (practice rail) where they have spent their childhood learning all their new tricks. The rain does work but it is not very noticeable in the image but u can tell by the clothes and the little specs in the background.
I used two flashes for this i wanted to only use one and make it look like a natural diffused light but because of the back hoodie i needed to separate him from the background which meant i used nearly the same lighting as i usually do. I really wanted to get out the fashion of back lighting everything but when i see all extreme sports images it seems that all the best photographers always backlight their images. I am very undecided which direction i will take with this, to follow the others or to keep trying to create a new style?
